How learning changes as they grow

The same classroom looks different depending on the age of the child in it. What stays constant is that children learn by doing.

PLAYGROUP AND NURSERY

Learning through play

For our youngest children the focus is play, and what grows out of it: settling in, making friends, managing feelings, and the confidence to try something without being sure it will work.

KINDERGARTEN 1 AND 2

Ready for primary school

As children get older we introduce more structure, gradually, so that starting primary school feels like a step rather than a leap. It stays hands-on — the structure is in what they are working towards, not in how they sit.

Language immersion, taught by native speakers

English is the everyday language of the school. Alongside it, every child takes one immersion language — and children at every level are welcome, from absolute beginners to native speakers.

German

DEUTSCH
Our German teacher is a native speaker and speaks only German during sessions. Popular with mixed families, and with families who want to keep German alive after moving to Singapore.

Russian

РУССКИЙ ЯЗЫК
Taught by native speakers in small groups, so every child gets close attention on pronunciation and speaking.

Mandarin

中文
A strong option for families with a Mandarin-speaking parent, and for children meeting the language for the first time.
Reading and early literacy
For early reading and writing, we use Jolly Phonics and Oxford Reading Tree. Children in Kindergarten 1 and 2 also read one-to-one with their teacher every week, to prepare for primary school.

For children who do not yet speak English, our English Language Support programme helps them settle in faster.

Learning happens outdoors
Children are outside every day, and out of the school grounds up to three times a month. Our playground, courtyard, garden and the nearby park give them room to move, even in the city.
  • Outside every day
    Every child plays outside every day, in the playground, courtyard and garden, with more time outdoors as they get older. From 4:30, it's free play until pick-up.
  • Out to the park up to three times a month
    Weather permitting, children walk to the nearby park — a change of scene, and a bigger space to run in."
  • Water play
    In weeks without a park trip, children get a full hour of water play in the inflatable pool or with pails and buckets.
  • The garden
    Children regularly plant, dig and harvest in our own garden. Some of what they grow ends up in the kitchen.

Singing and instruments, which support language and memory.

Cooking

AT LEAST ONCE A TERM
Children cook with our chef and eat what they make.
Meals cooked on site
Our chef cooks lunch fresh in our own kitchen every day, and prepares breakfast and a tea-time snack. All meals are included in the fee.
Menus change regularly. Ask to see the current one on your tour.
